Ha un \u003cstrong\u003econnettore USB Type-A\u003c\/strong\u003e piatto sul lato PC e un \u003cstrong\u003econnettore USB Type-B\u003c\/strong\u003e sul lato stampante: quello quadrato con lo spigolo superiore smussato, che si riconosce a colpo d'occhio. È uno standard rimasto immutato per anni proprio perché robusto: lo trovi ancora su stampanti multifunzione, laser, scanner e su molte periferiche professionali.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNella maggior parte dei casi si arriva qui per due motivi: la stampante è stata venduta \u003cstrong\u003esenza cavo\u003c\/strong\u003e — capita spessissimo — oppure quello in dotazione è troppo corto per la posizione in cui la stampante sta davvero.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003eSulla lunghezza c'è un limite fisico\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLo standard USB 2.0 prevede una lunghezza massima di circa \u003cstrong\u003e5 metri\u003c\/strong\u003e per un cavo passivo. Non è una raccomandazione commerciale: oltre quella distanza i tempi di propagazione del segnale escono dalle specifiche e il collegamento diventa instabile, con la stampante che sparisce e riappare o che si blocca a metà di una stampa. Se ti serve più di così, la strada non è un cavo più lungo ma un \u003cstrong\u003eextender USB attivo\u003c\/strong\u003e oppure, molto più semplice, collegare la stampante in rete.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cdiv style=\"background:#eaf4fb; border-left:4px solid #1a5f9c; padding:14px 16px; margin:20px 0; text-align:left;\"\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"margin:0; text-align:left;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIl consiglio del banco.\u003c\/strong\u003e Quando una stampante \"non viene riconosciuta\", prima di reinstallare driver e impazzire vale la pena provare tre cose in questo ordine: cambiare porta USB sul computer, evitare gli hub non alimentati (le stampanti assorbono più di quanto un hub passivo riesca a dare) e sostituire il cavo, soprattutto se è quello di dieci anni fa recuperato in un cassetto. Un cavo USB Type-B che ha preso trazioni e piegature ripetute cede sui contatti prima di rompersi in modo evidente: funziona a intermittenza, ed è la causa più sottovalutata dei problemi di stampa.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\n\u003ch2 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003eDomande frequenti sul cavo USB per stampante\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003ch4 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003eVa bene per qualsiasi stampante?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePer tutte quelle con porta USB Type-B, che sono la grande maggioranza di stampanti, multifunzione e scanner da tavolo. Alcune stampanti compatte e portatili usano invece il micro-USB o l'USB-C: controlla la porta sul retro dell'apparecchio prima di ordinare.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003eUSB 2.0 basta o serve una versione più veloce?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePer la stampa basta ampiamente: il flusso di dati verso una stampante è modesto rispetto alla banda disponibile. Un cavo più veloce non riduce i tempi di stampa, che dipendono dalla meccanica e dall'elaborazione della stampante, non dal collegamento.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003ePosso usare una prolunga USB per arrivare più lontano?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLe prolunghe passive sommano la loro lunghezza a quella del cavo e portano fuori specifica il collegamento. Se non riesci a stare entro i cinque metri complessivi, meglio un extender attivo o il collegamento in rete della stampante.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4 style=\"text-align:left;\"\u003eLa stampante funziona anche senza il cavo, in WiFi?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSe il modello lo prevede sì, ma il collegamento via cavo resta il più affidabile e serve comunque per la prima configurazione di molte stampanti.
